The University of Cambridge founded in 1209 is a public research university in Cambridge, United Kingdom and is the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world’s fourth-oldest. One of the world’s oldest universities and leading educational centres it is also a self-governed community of students. This university is formed from a variety of institutions which include 31 constituent Colleges and over 100 academic departments organized into six schools and they are Arts and Humanities, Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Technology. There is a Council of each School – including representatives of its Faculties and Departments. The Schools are represented on the General Board.

Cambridge is rich in history – its famous Colleges and University buildings attract visitors from all over the world. But the University’s museums and collections also hold many treasures which give an exciting insight into some of the scholarly activities, both past, and present, of the University’s academics and students. Cambridge University Press, a department of the university, is the world’s oldest publishing house and the second-largest university press in the world.

It has over 11,000 staff, 31 Colleges, and 150 Departments, Faculties, Schools and other institutions. The University boasts of a diverse international community and welcomes talented students from around the world. There are currently more than 20,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students at the university with close to 9,000 international students representing over 140 different countries. Around 25% of undergraduate students and 50% of graduate students are from outside the UK.

Cambridge has currently a population of 23,380 students from all walks of life, 10,910 of whom are graduates and 12,480 are undergraduates and amongst the graduate students, 50% come from overseas and around 40% are women, over 11,000 staff, 31 Colleges, and 150 Departments, Faculties, Schools and other institutions. The University boasts of a diverse international community and welcomes talented students from around the world.

Cambridge has over 120,000 overseas alumni in over 200 countries.
