Andhra Medical College (AMC) came into being on 19th July 1923. The college is affiliated to the Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, AP and it is recognized by the Medical Council of India. It offers MBBS, PG and Super Speciality courses. The college is attached to government teaching hospitals in Visakhapatnam, they are King George Hospital (KGH), Government Chest Hospital, Government ENT, Regional Eye Hospital and Government Hospital for Mental Care. The students of AMC attend their classes at the departments of the teaching hospitals as per their education requirements.

Thanks to the generosity of the Government of India , Medical Council of India and Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, our medical students now participate in learning communities that bring together small groups of students and their advisors to enhance personal attention and a sense of community within the larger educational environment. This gift resulted in new educational and student facilities, including a fully equipped fitness center and a state-of-the-art clinical skills and simulation center.

Vishakapatnam Junction is about 3 km and the Maddilapalem Bus Depot is about 4 km from the campus. Visakhapatnam International Airport is about 13 km from the airport.
