The Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences, Paonta Sahib started under the auspices of Dr. Puran Chand Medical Charitable Trust in the year 2003 under the dynamic leadership of Dr. V K Gupta – Chairman of the Trust. Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences (Himachal Dental College, Paonta Sahib) is duly recognized by Dental Council of India, New Delhi/Govt. of India and affiliated to Govt. University namely Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla (HPU Shimla)

Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences is only Institute in Himachal Pradesh having intake capacity of 100 seats in BDS Course also 29 seats in MDS Course in different 7 specialities due to its infrastructure and facilities.
