The Institute got off to a flying start under the leadership of Hon’ble Founder Chairman Late Dr. O.P. Chaudhary. It was his zeal, enthusiasm, determination, patience and perseverance that the Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences was setup in 1996, and named ‘Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences’ as a tribute to Iron man of India – Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, who have been a constant source of inspiration to our Hon’ble Chairman.

The college is recognized by the Govt. of India Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and permanently affiliated to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya. Dr. O.P. Chaudhary Hospital and Research Centre – a multispecialty hospital too was established within the campus imparting medical training to our students and best of Medical Care to the patients. Since then the Institution has come a long way and gained numerous accolades in the process. MDS courses were started in the year 2004 recognized for all 9 branches of Dentistry.

Admissions are through the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET) only and the Institution is usually one of the first choice for the students amongst all Dental Colleges of North India. The Institute boasts of an accomplished faculty in all departments. The laboratories and clinics are spacious, well-furnished and have state of the art equipments and gadgets, both indigenous and imported to facilitate an excellent environment that is conducive for learning and patient care.
