Course Duration : It is a three-year post graduation course.

 

Course content :

  • It is a medical speciality that focuses on the physiology, anatomy, and disorders of the eyeball and orbit.
  • The curriculum covers concepts and processes involved in solving problems related to eyes, such as Glaucoma, Iritis, Eye trauma, Orbital cellulite, Tumors and other diseases affecting the human eye.
  • Students learn about how to perform necessary eye surgeries or how to prescribe contact lenses or glasses.
  • Students also learn about the basics of ophthalmology and advanced topics such as Uvea and vitreoretinal diseases and the optical nervous system.
  • The curriculum covers both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for ophthalmic practice.
  • Core subjects include basic opthalmic sciences, clinical ophthalmology, and subspecialities such as Cornea, Retina, Glaucoma, Pediatric ophthalmology.
  • During the course, students learn to perform eye examinations, diagnose ocular conditions, and develop treatment plans.
  • Surgical skills including cataract surgery, oculoplastic procedures, and laser interventions, are also taught.
  • Additionally, the program emphasizes research methodologies, enabling residents to engage in scholarly activities.
