What is Deemed University?
On, the recommendation of the UGC, a central government may designate an institute of higher learning that is not a university as long as it operates to an exceptionally high level in a particular field of study.
A 1956 act of parliament created the University Grants, Commission, a legislative body tasked with coordinating, adjusting, and upholding the standards of higher education. In addition, to giving grants to qualified colleges and Universities, the Commission counsels the federal and state government on policies essential to the advancement of higher education.
